nobody is actually worth the no. 1 pick until a rookie cap is implemented. No player should be paid 60 million without taking a snap. IMO. That being said, PP is the best player in the draft.

Is he the most talented?
yes.
Does carolina need a CB?
yeah but they need so many other positions that are more important (like QB, DL, etc.).
Hence he won't go No.1

If there is no sure-fire franchise QB or LT available, then anybody is worth a #1 pick. Gotta pick somebody.

Best athlete but that doesn't mean he should be the #1 pick or get $60 million. Agree, none of them are worth that much money.

Of course he is! Hell I just picked him with the 1st overall pick in my Fantasy Football League!

He is the most talented for his position.

To me, the #1 overall pick should be a player that has the potential to either impact every play (i.e., a dominant pass-rusher, dominant interior lineman) or help your team consistently put points on the board.
A cornerback really does neither. So no.

Carolina should pick Gabbert (QB) or Bowers (DE) if they wanna go with two impact positions.

I know all of the arguments, but I don't agree with the notion that cb is not one of the most important positions. Having a guy on your team who can lock down one side of the field allows a defense to do so much more, including being more aggressive.
They say the offense can avoid that player by throwing away from him, but that having that player allows you to double up on the other side.

Put it this way.....Darrelle Revis (Jets), Asante Samuel (Eagles), DeAngelo Hall (Redskins), Drayton Florence (Bills), Dominique Foxworth (Ravens), Charles Tillman (Bears), Brian Williams (Falcons), Chris Gamble (Panthers), Ronde Barber (Buccaneers), Champ Bailey (Broncos), Walter McFadden (Raiders), Stanford Routt (Raiders), Nate Clements (49ers) are all CB's whose 2010 salary was high than there teams starting QB.

And how many of those guys were the #1 overall pick?
