LSU football team is running hard so they can keep up with Oregon
quote:

Strength and conditioning coordinator Tommy Moffitt brought the hammer down and raised offseason conditioning work to a new level. In the spring, the Tigers worked at substituting quicker. Summer was filled with short-burst conditioning runs.
quote:

"There's no breaks, no time to celebrate a play," he said. "As soon as you make a play, you have to run back and focus at all times. It's fast-paced. Back to back to back to back to back. We've been preparing since the day after the last game."
quote:

"The first day everybody was all over the place, guys getting lined up late," Mathieu said. "Now everybody has got their cleats on the ground.

"We're ready to play ball now."

Tigers will be ready.

Nb4DucksflyinaPAC saying UO has been training like this for years.

Oh and good read. Thanks.

That guy has taken some freakishly weird positions on Oregons changes in lineup. Which includes the gem of Cliff Harris.

Harris is an All American, but not the best corner, that is actually the back up. The only thing that Cliff does well is returns, but we have a better return guy behind him.

And to the subject at hand...I am glad we are making this a priority. If we get our hands and cleats on the ground and ready, all that gimmicky circus shite that UO does will be negated.

Exactly! The more I think about it, most of their success comes from keeping the opponent off balance. With that negated, they'll have no chance.

I bet it will be fun as hell to tear apart the Oregon offense.

I have a gut feeling that LSU is gonna shut that shite down as much as we shut down Georgia Tech's modern day wishbone a few years ago.

I think LSU will have success against the Oregon offense (as will the Oregon defense have success against the LSU offense--I see it being very low scoring, a 23-17 type game either way)...but to compare Oregon to Georgia Tech? Ouch. The talent level discrepancy between Oregon and that Georgia Tech team is very, very large

I don't think he was refering to talent level. More likely that both offenses are traditionally difficult for most teams to prepare for.

This!

Ga Tech players are essentially those who like to work their butts off in 90% humidity and 90 degrees. After practice they go to the local club and play heavy metal or rap all night and screw multiple women. Despite this, they were not good enough to make it at UGA.

Oregon players decided the SEC is too scary, they prefer "training" (if you can call it that) when it is 60 degrees. Then they go home, sip espresso, play Sheryl Crow and get in touch with their inner selves. By themselves.

Yes, the difference in talent level is very, very large.

I agree it will be a 23-17 type of game if O is somewhat close to how good O was last year. I am not sure O will be though. But I don't know crap about your team other than simple quotes like new o-line etc. If there has been a significant drop-off in talent then it could be a long night for O. Not a prediction just saying LSU should be better on Offense and might actually better on Defense as well. I just don't know enough about what has gone one with the O team.

Either way first game rust will likely play a huge role. And I think that sort of thing is most likely to crop up with Oregon considering the type of offense they run.

I really like reading articles like this. I really think that if LSU has a championship type of year, we will owe a lot of that to the Oregon preparation. Win or lose in Dallas, the tigers will be a better team this year because Oregon is the opener.

I think both teams are going to shake off that first game rust exceptionally fast. We will all be shocked at how well both teams are playing right out the gate. Not saying there won't be mistakes, but it won't be your typical first game blunders. Both teams are working their asses off right now and are focused on this game.
That said, LSU will be prepared for the gimmick O they run. It might take a couple of series to get adjusted, but once that happens we will put a hurting on the Ducks. It's going to be a great game, I'm pumped for this.

The only thing I think anyone can say for certain is that Jordan Jefferson improved immediately simply due to the fact that Crowton left (we had him at Oregon, he was awful) and he will have a much better season #-wise than he did last year. It will be low scoring in my opinion, due to first game rust (lots of penalties, sloppy blocking, turnovers) and because both teams have great defenses. Oregon's defense will be the strong side of the ball for the Ducks this year. I have been predicting LSU 23-18 all summer, and stand by that (18 because Oregon seems to go for 2 at least once per game). Very similar in how the game plays out to the national championship last season.

A good read. Much of that will be negated if LSU can bang out long time consuming drives.

The Tigers' D expectations just feel different this year. Like Chief is holding on tight to the reins of a teeming streak of wild Tigers anxious to maul & devour its prey. The hungry Tiger always catches its prey.

I just hope our D-line can dominate... I mean truly dominate. If that happens I think the game is in the bag.
