Anywhere in the BR area to play pick up soccer? Just moved here from Lafayette and played soccer my whole life. Also looking to play on any indoor and mens league team.

Welcome to the board.

The popular place for pickup games is Burbank Park. You can go pretty much every late afternoon/evening, but especially Fridays.

The men's outdoor league won't start until the middle of September, so you have plenty of time to find a team for that. Men's indoor starts again in like 2 weeks I believe.

Students play in front of the LSU natotorium every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. (I think it starts at 6 pm)

Definitely Burbank. You're usually going to find a regulation field around 6 pm with 20 or so Mexican/African dudes playing out there. I had a bunch of friends I went to high school with play a lot out there this summer at 6. A lot of us were slapdicks who didn't play in HS, but we had some decent people come out. There is also an indoor league at a place down Nicholson I'm going to play in with some guys I work with. I would post my email address but you're offline and I don't want to leave it up in this thread. I'll check back in this thread though.

Hey, I'm actually the guy that organizes the pick up in front of the natatorium. Feel free to join our facebook group:

I write on the wall reminding people of time/location. It's pretty much T/Th/F at 6PM every week. Usually we have pugg goals.

Unfortunately I've been injured and unable to play.

I just check out your FB group. Thank god that it's 11v11 this year. I hated futsal with a passion last year. I'd rather have half of the games forfeited than futsal.

Futsal alone = not bad. Futsal without goalies nor walls = donkey dick sucking awful.

Yeah, I've played indoor in highschool where we could use walls and have goalies and it was fun. Last year sucked balls.

Have you tried the indoor center in St. Gabriel (about 15 minutes down Nicholson away from LSU)? I have enjoyed playing there a lot. Sign up for the new season just started. I'd give it a look:

futsal is played on a court. however, it uses a different ball. i wouldn't want to play it with an actual soccer ball

Whatever.

The ball was different, which was fine. Not having keepers on big nets was just dumb.

Unfortunately most of my friends don't play, or they don't like it enough to play except for our fraternity team. It sucks because I'm starting to really want to play pretty regularly for the first time since HS. I'll check it out.

The owner is a real chill guy. If you're interested just give him a call and I'm sure he can find a team for you.

Thanks. I think that I'm going to try to pull together a few guys to start playing more often.

you can totally just jump on a random team out there...just sign up as a free agent and they'll put you on a team. i'm sure a few guys on here probably need another player on one of their teams as well.

I was talking about indoor, but you can sign up as a free agent for outdoor as well.
