Large number of freshman to play against UO

Does this worry you? This class was highly touted, and has some great talent, but a lot of true freshman playing in the opener against Oregon kind of has me worried. These kids haven't taken a college snap yet and they will do so on a huge stage in Dallas against a very good team. I'm not saying I don't have faith in them and I think they'll fail, but it's a tough situation...
OBJ- will certainly see time. Seems like he may even start.
Collins- will see a ton of time.
Landry- assuming he won't be suspended, will likely see time with shep out
Freak- maybe not a ton of time, but I'm sure he will get in the rotation on the D line
Hilliard- may see some time at FB
Magee- idk how he gets many carries with the stable of backs we have, but word is that he was moving up the depth chart and may not red shirt.
And I might be leaving some off.

Not worried about skill position players, those are the spots that underclassmen are most able to step in and have an immediate impact.
Freshman lineman is more concerning, Collins is supposed to be a beast and hopefully he's the exception to the rule but you really shouldn't expect good things when that happens.

It's still a large number of true freshman stepping on to the field against Oregon. We aren't starting off with Northwestern at home.

Besides OBJ and Collins, assuming he starts at Guard, it sounds like everyone else is gonna be in a rotation with veteran players. That's not asking for much from these talented freshman. I don't concider any of them as being thrown to the wolves with the role they will play.

Well he may be the least used of the bunch (outside of Magee). Our d line is already good. He will just add some extra depth to it. I wish all our freshman could be used like he will be. If he comes in for his reps and dominates he sees the field more and more, if he doesn't look quite ready we can back off till he is.
We don't have that option with some of the others. That's my worry.

Kind of like last year when these guys saw the field in their first LSU game:
Boone
Wright
Vinson
Ware
Mathieu
Reid
Simon
Blue
Adams (JUCO)

I am glad UO doesn't have any freshman playing against ULS, that way we can bring all of our players to the game against LSU.

not worried, but it does seem like a large amount for the first game of year against a top 5 team. i don't think magee or hilliard see any meaningful time outside of special teams.
collins, johnson, landry (all 5 star players) odb (top 50 on rivals).

Remember when Les was criticized for NOT playing freshmen, since they were deemed by this board to be better than the juniors and seniors ahead of them?

No doubt they will all be studs. I don't disagree with that at all.

Magee will get at least 5 carries IMO
FWIW, this class could go down as one of the best in LSU history by the time its all said and done

I know, but you have to assume that Les wouldn't put them out there if they weren't capable. He's got too much riding on this game to not be properly prepared. I'm excited for an increased infusion of youth....it's refreshing.
