Do we really need Kirk Herbstreit or other media types to do lsus job for us? I bet Alabama is promoting trent richardson!! I just get the sense that the people in the athletic dept need to do a better job of promoting our players for individual honors! only morris claiborne even got ANY votes for preseason! thats bs! what high profile recruit wants to come here when his chances of winning a heisman are 58-1! as in 1958!

wait, are you serious?
oh, and the answer to your question is that we are the number 1 TEAM in the country and have won 2 national titles in the last 10 years...THAT'S WHY THEY COME.

Going into the season? He's a 5' 8" true sophomore CB. Why would anybody think that's a guy ripe for Heisman marketing?
Now? It's still early. They got burned by early hype of PP7. I think they're fine. If we make it through October and he's "taking what he wants", then it's different.
Also, this is a different time that the old days of hyping a player. LSU is #1 and plays in the beat conference in the country. The team is on national TV all the time. HB7 is getting plenty of exposure without LSU's athletic dept. lifting a finger!

"Burned" may be a strong word, but the Heisman hype started sliding the week after the WVU game.
Plus, the more I think about it, a high profile team like LSU doesn't need to hype a player. The media does it for you. If they want to bring attention to someone, just get Miles to mention it. If attention is coming to a player, make him available to the media (and train him for it).
I think LSU is doing fine with TM7.

As I've said before (re: PP7), I'm pretty sure that LSU's Heisman Campaign Strategy consists of an old dusty Converse shoe box in the AD's closet, containing a couple of dead crickets.

i remember first arriving at LSU, the 'Tommy Hodson for Heisman' push was in full swing. They even had posters in bars and stuff. I agree with u Slappy. They should push this or hire a firm that can.

I started at LSU at the same time. No Interwebs then! ESPN was not in bed with college football at all like it is now. High profile teams get attention.
Did Bama have to run a Mark Ingram for Heisman campaign?
