I used to be the biggest steam person, then WoW, CoD,Battlefield, etc took my attention away. I kept it installed on my computers, but I never played on it. Recently I got back into it and it's better than ever before. Cheap prices, fast downloads, great support. I'm mad that I took this long to get back to it, but now that I am I won't be going away again.

Right now, it's such a great digital distribution platform. With the regular sales and promotions, I haven't used any other service for almost 2 years now (other than being forced into Origin with BF3)

Use to mess with it a lot. Bought Valve complete pack and poured hours into all the games that came with it(it's a great deal BTW). Computer got a virus so I stopped using. Just got back into so I can play some GMOD. Pumped up for dat summer sale.

Steam is pretty much all I use. I love the deals they have on there. It's rare I pay more than $10 for a game. Sure, the games are a year or two old, but so is my computer, so it all works out.

Hell no I check their deals every day. Their sales have to suck right now with everyone holding of for the summer sale.

Yep, Origin is a giant piece of shite. In fact, here's an article showing how origin bosses feel about Steam sales. LINK

So figure this one out. You may remember that twelve days ago, there was quite a lot of discussion over EA’s Origin store boss saying they wouldn’t be engaging in “deep discount” sales on their Steam-rivalling service. David DeMartini (whose name sounds like he should be the star of a Bond spoof) said, “We won’t be doing that,” when asked about such services. Explaining why he added, “I just think it cheapens your intellectual property.”

Today on Origin, Dragon Age: Origins is available for £5. That’s discounted from £40 – an incredible 87.5% off!

Spore is 75% off, as is Darksiders, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Battlefied: Bad Company 2. 66% savings can be found on Alice: Madness Returns and Darkspore, while Dead Space 2, Shank, Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam, Mirror’s Edge, The Saboteur, Gotham City Imposters, Gatling Gears, and Batman: Arkham Asylum are all half price.

That’s half the price of their current Origin prices, of course. Not half the price of their original prices. In fact, most of those games are now available for 87.5% off their original launch price. That’s an awful lot of intellectual property EA are cheapening today.

“Occasionally there will be things that are on sale you could look for a discount,” said DeMartini less than two weeks ago. “Just don’t look for 75 percent off going-out-of-business sales.”

Uh-oh!

This is about idiotic.

So Madden 12 shouldn't drop in price once 13 is out?

How about cheapening the IP by over-saturating the market? Sims? Madden?
