An open and honest discussion about the visible pvc pipe on west side of stadium

Let me go on record as saying that I am grateful for the improvements that have been made to campus and athletic facilities since I attended LSU in the early 90's. While I am not a fan of big donors (ie, non-athletes and non-coaches) getting their name plastered around our stadiums, I appreciate their patronage to LSU sports.
With that out the way, this thread is not intended to focus on how the pipe came to be, or who is responsible for it...but rather, let's focus our energy towards correcting the issue. I assume it is there for a reason and can't simply be removed.
Questions:
Can't it be painted a gray color to make it blend with the stadium's facade? If so, what would you estimate to be the cost of such project? How often would it have to be re-painted in the future?
Outside of painting it, are there any other solutions to make it less visible?
For those who don't venture to the West Side of the stadium much and don't know what I am talking about, feast your eyes on this:
Let me hear from you...

Couldn't they just have bought black PVC pipe? It does look shitty being exposed like that.

Awning on each side should do the trick...

Seems like painting it would be the simple solution. If that won't work, why not hang a sign in fornt of it, like "Welcome to Death Valley" or something?

Make a fur down of metal studs wrapped in exterior gyp or even better cement board and a stucco finish. However to obtain uniformity the same fur down would have to be built on the other side.
Just paint it.
Refresh paint every 5 years or as needed
Or you could let the facade of the building just come down lower on each side of center. So that the pipe could only be seen if you are directly underneath it.

Not PVC
ABS

it could be a temporary drain...and im sure if they use the right paint and paint it black or grey to blend in it would only take that one time to do it...but i agree it is a eye sore

Why not build a box around it and tie it into the pillar, and put an empty box on the other pillar to keep everything looking the same. It might not look great, but it probably would look better than having the exposed PVC pipe.
Hang a banner in front of it or something. It doesn't have to be an expensive fix

Since it falls behind the Scotty Moran Championship plaza why not post the Championship Banners/ Signage hanging from the west upper.

Wait? Are we talking about that elbow to the center right at the top of the pic?
Posted on 8/21/12 at 10:12 am to Kirk Herbstreit
I said that already

some grey foam insulation and duct tape would fix it right up

Hang large graphic banners depicting big LSU moments on either side if it is possible.
