Not a Les-bashing thread. I understand he's the most successful coach in LSU history. But he's stubborn. Stubbornness is a good trait in many instances. Stubbornness can lead to an attention to detail, a practice makes perfect mentality, a refusal to quit. Successful head coaches, like a Nick Saban, are certainly "stubborn." And it's because of that stubbornness that they've been successful. However, look at the BCSNCG. Saban didn't stubbornly run Trent Richardson over and over. He could have. He could have had the mindset, "Dammit, we SHOULD be able to run Richardson successfully, if only we block better and try harder, so dammit, that's what we're going to do!" No, rather, he changed his gameplan, and it worked. I fear Les believes that if the Tigers try harder, execute better, block harder, they can successfully continue to run predictable plays. That is the only reason I can figure out why they won't implement screen passes, swing passes to backs, short strikes over the middle to tight ends and slot receivers, true play action plays (where the QB fakes a handoff to the back and passes ... in order to do that, the QB has to actually hand the ball to backs sometimes and not always toss it back.) Miles' stubbornness, here, works against him. Where am I wrong?

Massive run on sentence followed by a sentence in parenthesis that should be a stand alone sentence. Starting a sentence with "that" is also poor form. Your "..." could very easily be replaced by a hyphen. I'll stop for now.

Well, I got bored a new one for calling the coach a blockhead last week and I still stand by that description.

You're dead on. It seems Les don't mind getting stuffed on 3rd and 2 or 3 as if he's "keeping the D honest". This offense is looking more and more like a 1980's Big 10 offense...hence Miles' personality.

Speaking of play-action passes, last year, Jarrett Lee's early success was due to the fact that the Tigers implemented the play-action pass a few times every game.

Once it was apparent that it was only a matter of time before JJ was going to be reinstated as the starter, those plays stopped.

As far as "short stuff over the middle", the LSU did that a couple of times last night to the tight ends and it was a rousing success. Otherwise, the pass game is short sideline stuff or long bombs.

I think you're confusing the words stubborn and clueless.
