I'm not sure if this is supposed to be on the food board, but whatever.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because we have family come in from all over the country to enjoy an awesome day in the Tennessee hill country right outside of Nashville. The weather is pretty much perfect, and in my mind, there is nothing better.
We do it big for Thanksgiving meal
Smoked turkey (choice of stuffing)
Sweet potato pie
Baked macaroni topped with breadcrumbs
Cranberry sauce
Just about every type of dessert you can think of
I just want to know how the OT does it.

I'm going to brine my turkey and ham then smoke them both. I have been practicing for them. I'm taking a ham out of the brine today that has been soaking for a week to smoke saturday and putting a turkey in to brine today to smoke Sunday. If all goes well I'm going to repeat the process for Thanksgiving.
The macaroni is a staple for us too. Along with green bean casserole, shrimp mold, and rice n gravy made with turkey drippings.

I've never heard of brining a ham. Always brine my turkeys though.

Childhood memories of Thanksgiving at my two old Aunt's house. Extended family of 12. Served at Noon.
Baked Turkey with Oyster Dressing
Green Bean Casserole
Tossed Green Salad
Baked Yams
Crusty French Bread and butter
Not much in the way of desert. Maybe chocolate pudding.
The ladies remained at the dinner table to gossip. The men moved to the living room to watch football on the new black and white TV set. By 2 pm the ladies retired to the back bedrooms for a nap. The men turned off the TV and slept on the couches. Much snoring.
Ah, those were the days.
