She's never shot before but wants to get into. She wants to go get her ccl as well. What's a good gun that she can carry in her purse but wont be to much for her to handle TIA

I'd start her out with a revolver. Go look at the what did you get for christmas thread. That .38 that spicy stacy got is the perfect pistol for a woman with no experience

S&W 642 if she's not going to get into guns.
Polymer if she's going to be more devoted.

This. Good luck with whatever she gets!

The only problem with this being her first gun is these guns really are not the most comfortable gun to shoot a lot of rouds thru. Can be a turn off because they have a pretty good jump to them even with 38 specials

Do you have any pistols?
If you do i'd take her to the range and let her shoot to see what she's comfortable with.
Revolvers are recommended for the first timer because it would take a fool to not be able to operate it, and a fool to accidentally discharge it

They do. The upside is that you can shoot it once a year and not have any difficulty in retaining knowledge.
It is a trade off, thats why I suggested the two options. If you're going to practice (which you should, of course), then a comfortable semi automatic is where I'd go. But if realistically your wife isn't going to do that, but you want her to have something she can operate, I think a revolver like that works.

Here is what i would do... Get a gun that YOU like..you can hope she doesnt like it, or its too big for her.. Then you take her and get another gun just for her! Two new guns!!!

I have a g23. I didn't know if she could handle it. It's not bad for me but I shoot a lot. I have a ruger .380 I might let her try out.

The only answer here is a Judge, obviously.

I think "Can I get a gun?" is a top 5 on the list "Things I want to hear my wife say" on the OB.

I'll second the Ruger LCR. This will be my wife's gun in the next few months

Make sure you never, and I mean never, go to sleep after making her mad.
