the 'lefties' ideal war hero

Someone that deserted his post, collaborated with the enemy, caused the deaths of several fellow soldiers, referred to the U.S. as a "disgusting horror," and has a father who praises Allah.

Rice said he served with distinction. He didn't. He got promoted from private to sergeant for deserting his post. I guess that meets her standard of 'serving with distinction.'

He was ready to become a staff sergeant later in the month from a specialist when he was captured in 2009.
But yes he was promoted.

Keep in mind we’re talking about a man who deserting his post and his unit (as a ‘private’) , voluntarily walked into the hands of the Taliban, and voluntarily converted to Islam .. and that was reported in by media in August 2010 to have joined the Taliban and was training jihadists on bomb-making techniques.
Yet despite all this, in June 2011 the US military, under Obama, promoted Bergdahl from private to sergeant

He went into captivity as a private. He was promoted while in captivity. I'm not going to look for a link that everyone here knows about.
