LSU's DJ LeMahieu is now starting the MLB All-Star game. Dee Gordon is out with an injury, LeMahieu in at 2B for the NL.

Will finish today 3 for 5, and head to the all star game hitting 311 (according to Root Sports).

LeMahieu will be the sixth former LSU player to start an All-Star Game. The last former LSU player to start the game was Aaron Hill of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009, also at second base.
Others were outfielder Albert Belle in 1995 and '96 while with the Cleveland Indians, first baseman Joe Adcock in two 1960 games while with the Milwaukee Braves, shortstop Alvin Dark in 1951 and '54 while with the New York Giants, and second baseman Connie Ryan in 1944 while with the Boston Braves.

LeMahieu is having a great season. He has been a solid defender for a while now, but now he is producing more at the plate. Well deserved appointment. Geaux Tigers
