the issue isn't around the stadium itself. the issue is the outlying areas and if people can even get to the stadium

That will have very little to do with the reasoning of moving the game. More dams broke last night, graves are starting to flood.
I highly doubt this city can handle a large influx of people right now. What about hotels? Restaurants? The roads just to get into the city?

It does not matter I'd the stadium is dry...the problem is available police, fire and first responders for the game, hospital census, closed roads, etc. It is not safe to introduce 100k more people into an already overtaxed system that does not have the resources to handle a crisis, or just basic needs of a huge gathering like that.

I don't know anything about Columbia, and I'm not insinuating because as a South LA resident who lived through Katrina I understand it can be a sensitive issue right now, but I know basically all of Baton Rouge becomes a giant cluster-frick on big game-days. So if part of the city was flooding and you dumped an SEC game onto it, it wouldn't work well in BR.
Don't know if that's applicable to Columbia, but that's really my only concern. You've likely got first-responders working around the clock and then you are going to ask them to work a game? Seems like it could be rough.

Not trying to be an arse but one has to wonder if the South Carolina officials really believe they can carry a football game in Columbia. Time to make a definite call right now. Dont wait till later. I , based upon Weather Channel reports and Weather Underground and what Im seeing from pics how the infrastructure will allow for a game this weekend. JMO
