If you were a A-Lister in Hollywood, how often would you work?

Lets say you were a superstar of the caliber of Leo,Damon,Cruise, J Law, etc and had a 9 figure net worth in your 30's, would you make a lot of movies and do blockbusters or would you just chill out and vacation, spend time with the fam and occasionally do a movie here and there like once every 2 years? Would you delve into passion projects and get away from blockbusters? Or would you just retire early
Me personally, I love how Leo does it where he has one movie release every year on average and then just chills out and parties.

I'd work a good bit. I think with that kind of money and notoriety the more time I took off the more likely I'd get into some seriously self destructive situations.
I'd just throw myself into finding quality scripts and helping get them made. Would also push to get that Alien movie that ignores everything after the 2nd one made ASAP.

Major film shoots are 60 to 90 days. A $20 million marquee "above the title" star pretty much has to work 18 hours a day on these shoots, essentially being the "front of the camera" director, uncredited screenwriter, etc. But, still, $20 million is $20 million. I would figure out a "peak" period of 5 or 6 years, try to be selective, yet still do 2 of these every year and try to do 1 "legacy" smaller budget picture every other year.
I would not be trying to get 4 or 5 of these a year and kill myself in the effort, but one has to make hay while the sun shines. Once I was done with those "peak" era films (10 to 12 over 5 to 6 years), then I might be coaxed into a franchise film with a director and group I enjoy working with roughly every year and then do another vanity project that year.
Still not bad - max 6 months of heavy work, plus another 2 or 3 months of light work/promotional schedule for those projects - still a solid 3 or 4 months off while pulling in $15 to $30 million per year.

I'd be in front of the camera every chance I got

No no no... you're forgetting the #1 rule of show business:
Always leave them wanting more.
The best way to make someone want something is to tell them they can't have it.
Only work with certain people, and do it as little as possible to maintain your star rating. Make sure that every movie you do is a big damn deal, because it's a (your name) movie. Let the Kevin Harts of the world tire out audiences instead. You will make equal cash.

I'm an A-Lister in the Valley. We have to work a lot more though

I'd def do the Matthew McConaughey route.
First 10-15 years I'm def rocking the rom com gravy train. Easy, laid back work with hot coeds I get to checkoff the list. Then I get into my craft and start making real movies at about 40.

Every other year.
A studio film every 4 years to pay the bill.
Any film I want between those.

I'd be Adam Sandler and just do whatever the hell I want with my friends, when I want and make boat loads of money.

the same as how often I try to work now.
As little as possible.

Robert Downey has done this perfectly. He makes $75 million from every Avengers film and then he can make a cameo in other Marvel movies for 5-10 million more or just chill out with his kids

A lot of them do it differently. As the above poster said, Leonardo Dicaprio seems to have a lighter schedule, while a guy like Dwayne Johnson seemingly works 24 hours a day and has tons of movies coming out or in the works.

If either go the Sam Jackson route and be in literally everything that comes across my desk or I'd make a massive blockbuster every 5 years or so and just do weird arse indie films for no money or funding them myself between movies.
