It's in part (for me) because it's a pain in the arse to access. It's not available for quick link from another board, at least on mobile, so I have to go back to the home page and fish for it. And it's only on the side bar, but not the "Life" drop down on desktop, so it's simply not in the face of most traffic. People have to seek it out and, as I recall, there was only one notice on the M/TV Board, so the site is selecting who traffics this board by basically presenting the news to MTV Board users (a small portion of the site's total traffic anyway) only.

I'm enjoying the board, but yeah it is not a fast moving one at least so far.

To be honest, I thought the M/TV board was doing a pretty good job of being a surrogate host for book discussions. But it s nice to be able to have more in depth discussions.

It's my personal opinion that this board will kill both this board and the movie/tv board as far as traffic goes.

The problem is although there are lots of readers here everyone has different tastes.

You may post about a book you absolutely love but there may only be 1-2 other people who've read it, and only a handful who enjoy that genre. Add that to the fact that it's not the easiest board to access, this equals low traffic

ETA: I've checked this board 10+ times a day since it's inception and only posted a handful of times, book reading moves slower than most other topics

Main thing as someone else said is that the damn board doesn't show up in the topics list from most areas of the site. I have to Google search the TD book board most of the time.

What did you expect? It's not like there were ever a ton of book posts on the OT (percentage of posts)

There's no hyperlink on the left side for non beta people so that may have an effect.

Been a long time follower of TD but never posted. Really enjoying the book board so far, and I look forward to reading more book recommendations in the future.

At the suggestion of several posters, I picked up a copy of "The Devil in the White City," and I'm about 1/2 way through. I'm really liking it so far, but I do find the constant switching between the Burnham and Holmes story line to be a little awkward at times.

Maybe we should form a TD book reading club? Everyone reads the same book and discuss?

I have the page bookmarked.

I think I'm not posting because I'm in the middle of 5 very mediocre books at the moment.
