One of my kids asked "do the keepers continue to call him Harvey or call him Mike?"

Do the keepers continue to call the new tigers by their name like Harvey or do they start calling them Mike? Just curious from a keepers viewpoint. I would think they transition to Mike but wanted to ask for my kid!

I was honest when I wrote the topic! First question was by my oldest asking how many tigers we've had since she was born then this daughter asked this question.

Just spoke with a friend that was very involved with program over her 4 years at LSU. She said they will call him "Mike". The only time they will use Harvey, is during the freshmen tours, when they are talking about the "History of Mike".

Someone asked this on the Facebook page and the admin responded that they are all called Mike once they officially become Mike.

There's a video on Mike's Facebook page of Dr. Baker calling him "Mike," so let's assume they call him Mike.

The keepers will call him Harvey unless someone else is around. They will call him Mike in public, but its not a big deal because they've already explained what a stage name is to the tiger.
