Let's say that Kim is assassinated by someone within his inner circle on Friday and a interim council of leaders within North Korea takes the helm and immediately appeals to China for help with composing their next government.

A. Does the global and American media give Trump his due credit for forcing this outcome with his harsh rhetoric and recent show of force on the surrounding seas? Or do they fail to give Trump credit, paint him as reckless but lucky, and credit North Korea and/or China more than Trump?

B. Do you think that most people in America and around the world (throughout Europe and in China, Japan, and Russia) give Trump his due credit? Do South Koreans and North Koreans give Trump credit?

Trump never gets credit for anything

He could cure cancer or pave the way for Jesus to return and the headline would be about racism

There is absolutely no way Trump gets "credit" for forcing Kim out (either through regime change or assassination).

They credit the Chinese and somehow frame Trump as the aggressor.

It depends on the ultimate outcome.

If North Korea manages to hold their shite together, make reforms, and begin to modernize with the assistance of China, then the North Koreans will be praised.

If all hell breaks loose and millions die from famine and stuff, Trump will be blamed.

regardless of what happens, Trump will be reported as having a negatice effect. NK could dismantle their missle prog, disban their military, and build luxurious housing for every citizen... the media would report on how much more luxurious it would be if not for Trump.

Trump could end global conflict and hunger and the leftist media will still say he's literally Hitler.

Yeah I'd be curious as hell. I think it would be polarized - I think Western Europe and US media would do the "Gorbachev/Reagan" thing and mostly credit China and North Korean actors.

I think Russia and Japan and the North/South Koreans would mostly credit Trump (as Eastern Europe did with Reagan).

I also think that when things inevitably went sour for a while the media would gleefully try to pin the problems (now more visible due to freer access to the press) on Trump.

Interesting - do you think it creates a new, larger "cold war" between US / Japan / South Korea versus China?

Which side do you think Russia would be on? Neutral?

I definitely give Obama (and HIllary) credit for the OBL raid. Definitely. I think most Republicans do as well. Remember in a 2008 debate McCain himself said he would not give the go-ahead for a hypothetical and unauthorized mission in a sovereign nation even if intelligence was fantastic (so basically, Obama and Hillary had bigger stones than McCain did).

Disagree. That was arguably the one moment of Obama's presidency that everybody loved.

Does anyone on this board give Obama credit?

They'll claim Trump pulled the trigger himself.

If he's assassinated, it would devolve into a civil war within hours.
