Today my neighborhood voted on whether to levy a 45 mil tax on itself.

Stonebridge in Gretna/Harvey voted on whether to buy the golf course. Returns are not yet in, but yes is leading.
Basically, the restrictive covenant runs out in 2019. The course owner wants out. The vote today will tax the residents to finance the purchase of the course and the clubhouse, which will be renovated and redeveloped. Every resident gets a membership. I calculated my taxes will increase by about $125 a month.
This will come down to a battle between the folks who live on the course (40%) and those who don't (60%). My home is on the course, and I am worried about my property values plummeting. I voted yes.
UPDATE: It passed, 54 to 46.

This is the problem with Stonebridge. Or really any nice neighborhood in the Nola area. It’s surrounded by a bunch of meh.

Have you ever had the yips? How do you play little chips when the ball is on an upslope?
on topic...Man, you live on a golf course?

are you currently a member of the club?

No, I am not a member.
I am not excited about this. But I am much less excited about the prospect of it turning into a goat ranch where the grass doesn't get cut, or having developers come in and put shitty houses on what used to be open space. This is a decent neighborhood, but if the course goes away it will be shite. I just want to make it to retirement and sell.

I would suggest you move quickly if it does pass. No doubt they underestimate what it takes to run the place and the thing will go to shite unless someone with actual money steps in.
Ask owners at The Bluffs.

the reason i'm asking is because everyone i've talked to who lives on the golf course doesn't support the club. they are not members.
now, they want the people who don't live on the golf course to pay more money to help preserve the golf course inahbitants' property values.

Why wouldn’t you be a member if you lived on the course and cared about what it became? Seems ridiculous when people move directly on a golf course and don’t get involved in the club.

Why would you live on a golf course where you aren't a member?
