I was given a deer roast and a back strap. I've cooked deer meat before and want to cook it in a way that my family will enjoy. I have heard that the meat can have a strong game taste and not sure that my wife and kid will care for that taste. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Roast I cook like a pot roast or it goes through a grinder for burgers.
Backstrap is awesome seared med rare (more rare than medium) with just S&P. I usually have a sauce to accompany it. Chimichuri is great or google “Venison Steak Diane,” follow it exactly, and thank me later. It’s the first recipe that pops up.
Edit: here it is LINK

Treat the roast just like you would any roast
Sear that backstrap and serve medium rare
My wife and kid have never complained about any wild taste to deer meat

You can marinate the backstrap in Allegro or similar and grill it- a game weary person might not even know it’s venison. Simple and good.

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking about cutting the strap in half and trying a reverse sear on part of it. We enjoy our steaks this way.

My uncle cuts them in fajita strips and marinates for a day or two and then grills them on an open pit
Med rare with a smoky flavor. Wrap it in a fajita or eat by itself. It's magical

Cut back strap into strips, marinate in buttermilk and a little honey, flour, fry in cast iron. Make gravy in cast iron and some biscuits and rice or potatoes. Enjoy
ETA:backstrap is good grilled too, but my go to is skillet fried. That's how we always had it growing up. Be prepared to nap after though

You can soak that backstrap in some milk or buttermilk to help with the “gamey” taste but just sear it.

Marinade with this recipe.
Marinade
Then cut into small strips, then wrap it with a piece of jalapeno, cream cheese, and bacon. Cook on a pit.

For the back strap. Egg and then flour. Slow fry it and then put on biscuits. Are make gavey and biscuits. Old deer hunter here that did his own deer. No going pay someone to steal half my meat.
