Gamespot article
I'm thinking the PS5 console reveal will be in 2020
At that point, the PS4 will be 7 years old.

Xbox badly needs a new generation to set things right.

You could argue the Xbox One X should have been a next gen system. It's what the original Xbox One should have been at launch. But MS under Don Matrik gimped it and it was outdated even at its E3 reveal.
We had games running at 1080p 60fps during the last generation, then Xbox One launch had games at 900p

Sony staying consistent.
PS3 Launch Date: November 2006
PS4 Launch Date: November 2013
PS5 Launch Date: November 2020?
Seems like it

I expect it to be announced at E3 next year and hit Q1 2020. This year is all about the big games they have coming and next year will all be about the next generation.

No way. Sony and MS are better positioned to release in Q4 for Christmas.

I plan on playing mine for another 5 years or so.

This is a funny thread.

I really may jump back from Xbox to PS5 when it comes out

Come back now. You are missing some great games.

Where the frick is UltimateHog and his insiders?
Right after this news released Sony announced to the press in Japan that it will be 3 more years before we see the PS5.
Reveal probably late 2019 or E3 2020, release 2021.

I think it still can come 2020. Looks like Sony only has 5 more big budget exclusives left for the generation.

I feel like we are to the point now that going from last gen to current gen to next gen is just a matter of graphics. PS3 games are still perfectly playable to me.
Going back to PS2 in "most" cases and you really start to miss a lot of quality of life enhancements that you take for granted now.

Yup. We need the next step. More frame rate or 4k resolution is not that big of a deal. It is at the point that you do not notice.
AR/VR/immersion is needed more. More mobility as well.

IF that happens, I'm thinking of making the jump. The only reason I haven't is that my best friend plays on xbone and we play games together.

I initially wanted to say Holiday 2019, but I feel like that may be too soon. While launching a console in Q1 is strange, ahve to remember that PS4 launched in Q1 2014 for the majority of markets. It was only Nov 2013 for a handful of countries. If it does launch in 2019, it'll be another staggered launch.
PS4 can easily shift another 4 million in the last two months of that year and push it over 100m.

Switched launched in March. Launch the PS5 with Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and it will sell.
