Why is it a crime to lie to the police when they are allowed to lie to you?

If you lie to the police or investigators of a crime, you can go to jail for that.
If the police are tying to coerce something from you, they can lie all they want to try to get it. No big deal
Why is this allowed in our legal system?

just to be clear, and I am no expert law-talking guy... but there is a CRIME for lying to cops??
Now when/if your lies are uncovered, and the suspicion increases on your lying arse, then whatever original crime you perpetrated becomes their singular focus, and you pay the price.
But the lie itself is a criminal offense?

Isn't a crime to lie to the police.

I love when the OT professes legal, medical and accounting advice. I didn’t realize that six months down at the community college made such experts. I learn something new everyday.

Here’s a tip, just exercise your constitutional right to not say anything! It CANNOT help you to talk to the police.

It doesn't.

Cause the hindrance, delay, or prevention of the communication to a peace officer, as defined in R.S. 14:30, of information relating to an arrest or potential arrest or relating to the commission or possible commission of a crime or parole or probation violation.

If it leads to someone being charged for something he/she didn't do, then it should be prosecuted. Filing a false report, for example.
But it generally isn't illegal to lie to get your own arse out of trouble. In fact everyone simply expects it, including your own attorney. Everyone knows the weed in your pocket isn't your cousin's.

not a lawyer and didn't stay at a HI Express last night, just going on what my lawyer buddies say, and most of them have been practicing for roughly 40 years, a few judges, DAs, defense guys among them

absolute biggest liars on the stand are cops and it's a dead giveaway, you can tell when they are lying when their lips begin to move
