Loris Karius was concussed during the CL final

This per a medical evaluation by one of the world's leading concussion experts.
Karius got concussed when he took a shoulder or elbow from none other than Sergio Ramos. This injury occurred two minutes before the Benzema goal.
LINK
There was never a stoppage in play for a head injury assessment, as is mandated by FIFA protocols now. This is on the ref, but it also doesn't appear that Karius asked for medical attention.
Statement regarding Loris Karius From Dr. Ross Zafonte and Lenore Herget, PT, DPT:

The last line is classic doctor hedging. If you get concussed, you absolutely have immediate decline in your movement and visual processing, and these things can take weeks to resolve (sometimes longer, depending on circumstance). The evaluation for a concussion involves a battery of tests (physical exams), and one of the newest to emerge is the VOMS, or vestibular/ocular-motor screening. In addition to memory, mood, sleep, cognition, etc., concussions also greatly affect your visual/spatial awareness and coordination.
TLDR: Karius should have been assessed by a team physician after the blow from Ramos, and likely would not have played the rest of the game if the signs of a concussion had been noted.

At the time of our evaluation, Mr. Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event. Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.

I wonder how much Karius paid this doc for this conclusion.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a loss handled so poorly

If he was dizzy he should have asked for medical attention. He has no one to blame but himself. If I were a Liverpool fan I would be more pissed at him if he was dizzy and couldn't see clearly but didn't ask to get checked out by a doctor.

Maybe VVD should not have pushed Ramos into Karius
Sucks he got a concussion
But Madrid were the better team

It’s never their fault

I shouldn’t be shocked, but I was when I saw all the people saying Ramos did it on purpose.

Their thread is so far removed from reality

I think Ramos did it on purpose.

He was pushed into him
He was not retrospectively banned because video evidence showed he was pushed.
None of this happens if he isn’t pushed into the GK

I never said he wasn't pushed.

You're asking someone who just sustained brain trauma to make a logical decision. Good luck with that. Did you say the same after Kramer got knocked the frick out in the WC final in '14? He got walked off the field by medical staff and he had no clue where he was.

Not sure why you're surprised. This is one area soccer is behind in. You mentioned Kramer and I also think about Lloris being knocked out cold against Everton in '13 (I think) and going on to continue playing after even after getting evaluated by medical staff.
FWIW I don't use this as an excuse for us losing. Sorry for not fitting everyone's narrative

Yeah, there was no way in hell Karius was coming off that field.

And I don’t blame him. As long as I was conscious I wouldn’t want to come off the field

speaking of concussions and a bit off topic
The All or Nothing on the NZ All Blacks vs The Lions just came out on Amazon. Dear lord these hit.

I mean its not like he took a running start and threw a flying elbow.
VVD and Ramos were running and VVD a big dude pushed him. Just look at the way he landed, looks like he didn't have much control once he briefly left his feet.

I've been pushed in the back on the pitch before. Obviously not by some as strong as vvd but I think it's naive to think Ramos didn't completely embellish his fall. He knew that he was doing.
