Should I drop a RB for Chubb?

I’m in a 10 team standard league (no ppr). We can only roster four running backs. Currently my running backs are:

Sony Michel
James Conner
Dalvin Cook
Leonard Fournette

With Conner being on bye and Cook and Fournette both being out, I only have one running back available to start this week.

I’m sitting 4-2 in the league. Since a loss wouldn’t kill me, my original plan was to start just one running back this weekend to keep from having to drop anyone. Now with the Hyde trade I’m second guessing whether I should drop one. So, I ask you, should I drop one for Chubb and if so, which one?

Do you have a 4 RB limit? What's the rest of your roster?

Yes, unfortunately this league has a 4 RB limit with no IR spot (stupid, I know).

With only being able to roster 4 backs. Yes. I’d drop Fournette because the Hyde trade seems to indicate a lengthy injury and possible split duty when he comes back.

That's pretty bold. If you need help now, then Chubb is a no brainer over Fournette. I do agree though that the trade seems to indicate Fournette could be done for a while. Maybe past their bye week. It's possible they're just trying to make sure Fournette is 100% healthy for the NFL playoffs which obviously helps no one in fantasy.

I’m considering dropping Fournette or Conner for Chubb, I just can’t get myself to pull the trigger. Someone may eventually scoop Chubb up this afternoon before I get the chance, but right now I’m in a dilemma trying to decide what to do.

I have Conner and Bell, so maybe I'm not the best person to take advice from about this, but I wouldn't drop Conner. There's just too much uncertainty around that situation IMO to be dropping a top 5 back.

They said they expect him back after Week 9. I'd sit tight

As mentioned above, there’s a limit on running backs for each team. Wish I could.

Yeah probably smart to keep him out through the bye anyway. No need to trot him out there and he's out again after one play

So maybe he’s back. Will he be back to 100%? Probably not. What’s the chances of splitting the work load? Pretty high, it’s one of the reasons Hyde is In Jacksonville. What’s the chances of re injury? Pretty high, he’s hurt his hammy twice this season.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that I’d take Chubb over Fournette ROS. Think about the headache and weekly what ifs you gotta go through when LF is/if back...

Edit;
This scenario is unique too.

Sony Michel - solid
James Conner - may lose the majority of his workload any week now
Dalvin Cook - still hurt, who knows if he ever returns fully
Leonard Fournette - still hurt, who knows if he ever returns fully. Oh and his team just traded for another solid RB.

You’ve got 1 RB you can count on. I’m going get the guy who I think will be a solid RB2 ROS starting this week

Trade Conner to the Bell owner for an upgrade at a different position and pick up Chubb.

Thought about a trade, but by the time a trade went through on Sunday Chubb will undoubtably be picked up off waivers by another team.

Chubb was just picked up off waivers. I’ll probably be kicking myself over not pulling the trigger. As always, thanks for the input guys.

Nah, you’ve got good ones and Fournette is worth the payoff come playoffs time.

RB is all luck with injuries anyways, new guys always pop up every week

At $5 Mil per year, Clyde will be the lead back in two weeks. Chubb is a short term fix imo. This GA kid is talented, but still a split backfield. Hard to separate with a probably #1 pick, but ya can’t let ego get in the way in this silly game.

I also have a team with LF, Cook, Conner. I’m 3-3. Would not have dropped any of them for Chubb. Tough situation for you though with the RB max. That’s a lame rule.
