NumbersUSA Video
This is a pretty old video, I’m sure it’s been discussed on this board in the past. Relevant again with all these “caravans”
This guy’s argument against widespread immigration for humanitarian purposes is very logical and focuses on the root of the problem moreso than people who say immigration will somehow fix these countries with poverty issues. What’s the argument against this line of thinking? His main point is helping people where they are instead of “brain draining” the most talented and driven individuals who are unhappy in their home countries, preventing them from helping solve the underlying problem.
I think if Trump/ Republicans took this angle it would be easier to argue against these mass migrations than just saying “go back” or “because it’s against the law” even though that is also true.

It's a good argument and a very logical stance and viewpoint... however:

Yep, the idea that we can somehow 'save' poor people with immigration is patently absurd.

Yeah it’s a great point the administration should make - these countries will never succeed if their population perpetually emigrates.

Just so you know, he is bad.
Awful. Horrible. An embarrassment to our country. A liar. A cheat. Tax fraud. Traitor.
So yeah, every minute that he is in office is a minute too much.

I have not responded to your horrific opines because trolling is trolling but your are truly ignorant if you believe that. If "they" had anything on DJT, it would have come out and he would be gone as "they" do to anyone else that opposes "them". You see? Y'all don't have shite!! LOL

Agreed. Same issue states like Mississippi have when the smart kids leave for Dallas or Nashville after college. If all the motivated and driven talent stayed home and worked to fix problems instead of just leaving we would be all better off.

Its a noble thought, but we have been trying this for the last 50 years with Latin America, and it doesnt work.
I know a fella in Venezuela, college educated. He said the mass exodus in Venezuela has gutted the entire middle class. He said all, all of his college friends have migrated. And when Maduro is gone, they arent coming back. He mentioned is best friend, he migrated to Miami, got a white collar job, became a citizen, married and has children, he is never coming back.
What is left in Venezuela, the very rich who have fixed assets (plants they cant move or liquidate) who are very corrupt, and the very poor.
When Maduro is gone, who will run the place? The very rich corrupt businesses and their stooges, financed and supported by the US for fear the chini will claw their way in. And it will be rinse and repeat for another 20 years.
I also believe, as long as America is America, the best and brightest will find their way here. Google, WhatsApp, You Tube, were all founded by immigrants. We have a crappy system at the bottom end, but we still get the cream of the crop at the top...and an Elon Musk or two to boot.

Beside raising the question of whether or not immigration can ease poverty and disease abroad, it asks how many is enough? What is the magic number the US can take in and still sustain itself? 50 million more than the 20 million already here? 100 million? Where would they live if we threw the gates open and let in the flood? How many shitty jobs do we actually have that uneducated, non English speaking people can fill?
