There was a Pat Gillens in Metairie Rd across from the shopping strip with Oscars, Great Wall, etc... I vaguely recall the sign said Pat Gillen’s II and it was next door to the dart/body shop.

Gennaros has been on that corner of Metairie Rd and Causeway for as long as I can remember. Was Gillens there at one point?

Pat Gillian’s was where the Bank is across from Oscars. My uncle was a regular. What I remember it closed and no reason given. However, when the building and a bank popped up after in its place, I figure he was paid handsomely for the location.

Yep the property became too valuable to keep a closed down auto repair shop with a darts retail venture by the owner's son. Pat Gillen's and then next to that was the "Unfinished Furniture" business. All gone by dozer and now a bank.

Pat Gillens on Metairie Rd. There was a Metry Cafe, but there was NEVER a Metry Road or Old Metry! Get it right!

From what I remember, Pat Gillen’s was across from where Oscar’s is now.
Gennaro’s has been by the overpass forever.
My dad used to work on that block in the 1960s.
The Metry Cafe was in that shopping center a block down from Langenstien’s. I used to get my hair cut next door.

Pat Gillan's was a small bar but had a pretty loyal following. I saw Tom Dempsey, the former Saints placekicker, in there just about every time I went there on weekend nights.

The old man who owned the auto shop next door and his son who ran a dart and darts accessory shop finally shut down after the old man either retired for good or died. Not enough money in dart sales to keep a business open on Metairie Rd. with that overhead.

We used to go in there durning the mid 90’s with our fake ID’s. I’m not sure we were ever carded though. It was just a place close to home where we could smoke cigs and drink cheap beer. We definitely were the only kids in there.

Is the Great Wall still across the street? RIP Vega tapas cafe.

A quick google search shows it's still there and so is Oscar's, another bar I liked to frequent for darts and their hamburger/baked potato combo that was a real gut-buster it was so filling.

Great Wall (goat) is no longer there. It’s been gone for prob at least 12 yrs. It’s now blue line sandwich. The owners (sweetest couple) retired. Their kids went to school and became doctors. Miss you Mrs Shelly.

We used to go there when we were younger and throw darts. Always a fun place. At one point they started having lingerie shows there, as that was attraction back then. Nick was the bartender and Tommy owned the place. Cheap drinks & beer, good times.
