Throw the book at this sumbitch. His license was already revoked, and not only was he poaching, but the sumbitch did it on a State Park.

Make an example of him.

Agreed 100%. Cant stand a poacher. They're a thief. Stealing from everyone. String him up by his toes.

Honestly, this part bothers me the least. It is public land. I personally think we should do all we can to give more hunting access to the public. I kill deer every year on a state park here in OK (granted it is legal). That being said, if it isnt allowed, he shouldnt be there regardless.

$2000 seems a low price to pay for that. It sounds like he was well aware that he was breaking the law and it wasn't because "i gotta feed muh family"

Sounds like the $2000 is just for the deer, not including the fines.

So according to the article if he has his licenses it would have been perfectly legal to take that buck in the state park.

10,000$ fine 60 days in jail that’s what it should be. And before anyone says what about mistakes. It’s like speeding I wouldn’t speed if the ticket was 3k I speed because it’s 200$.

Because he was hunting without a license??

The fact that he was hunting on land where hunting isn't allowed has no bearing on whether or not he should be ticketed for hunting without a license. Those are two seperate offenses.

Most he will ever have to pay is the max total of $1950 for the laws he broke plus the $2033.29 for the restitution. So basically $4000 max. It'll probably be less than $2500 when court is done. Now jail time is another thing that is usually suspended or time served if he had been arrested rather than ticketed. Guarantee you there isn't a judge in Louisiana that will give him a single day longer than 30 total. But ill put my money on suspended sentence.

lots of this goes on at Fausse Point. The State park claimed a bunch of land all over the lake. Lots of the land isn't even part of the actual park.

calling him a hunter is akin to calling a purse snatcher a jogger.

Agree with this.

Not taking up for this POS, but this seems like an odd practice. If you are being charged for not having deer tags, charging you with failing to follow tagging requirements seems somewhat redundant. But I'm sure it's their way of piling it on to attempt to teach him a lesson. Being that his license had already been revoked, I'm guessing they tagged him as a "slow learner".....lol.

Exactly!! An that is why they keep doing an bragging that even if they get caught “ it’s cheaper than what y’all pay for y’all lease”!!
I’m sure his family says he was just trying to provide food for the table .
