ACT “super-score”...Is this fair or a good idea?

I would argue no since it enables students to focus solely on one category each time they take the ACT. I feel that a huge challenge about the ACT is staying mentally focused for the entire 4-5 hours while taking the entire ACT. This super score crap greatly waters down a main challenge of the ACT.

They do it for the kids whose parents have self diagnosed their adhd.

I think the amount of testing we do in general is criminal. As a teacher, it is sad to watch the school shut down for NWEA practice testing, ACT practicing, NWEA real testing, State Subject Area testing, and then multiple ACT real tests. It's a joke.
To answer your specific question, no, it's stupid. I agree 100%. It rewards those who can take it eight times per year and get lucky in a subject once in a blue moon which does happen.

Everyone has a 5.2 GPA nowadays so why not find a way to inflate the ACT too

Its either already inflated, or a lot of people are lying about their kid's scores.

Hasn’t the ACT and SAT been determined as racist yet?
The scores are weighted towards more priveledged kids to help them into college

Some of us scored high enough the first time to not worry about it.
Sounds like OP's kid is a marginal student that can't compete. There's always tech school; I hear el gaucho is hiring.

Good idea... My daughter took it 3 times and her individual scores varied by 3 points. Her super score would have been 2 to 3 points better.

Laughing at all you genetically inferior mouth breathers. I scored a 31 on the ACT first attempt and my kid scored a 33. Enjoy community college simpletons.

My kid get a a 34 the first time, a 35 twice after that, but with superscoring, a straight 36 on all sections. (This is a brag.)
She can be a barista in any college town in America.

I don't know what the superscore is, but I always got pissed at those other kids in class they got extra time on the ACT for this or that reason.

so this generation is supposedly the smartest ever, yet we have to water down every standardized test for them?
