but they are about the least deserving champion I think I’ve seen in a long time.
That UConn run under Ollie is the only rival to that title in my memory.

There is no such thing as a least deserving champion IMO in the tournament.

It’s actually one of the more impressive title wins in my opinion. Individually, their talent doesn’t really match up with other champions but they’ve literally grinded their way to a title.

What? They were the #2 overall seed and won the ACC regular season title. Only lost close games to healthy Duke.

Call it subjective, but there wasn’t a single moment during the tournament where I thought “that is a potential title team”. Besides that, they got call after call after call during the most critical moments going back to at least Oregon. They got a ton of breaks go their way against a series of decent-to-good teams with no outstanding performances in any of them.
