Unfortunately, you have to be a subscriber to read the article, but I'll paste it here.

I love how the pay them more crowd forgets that USSF already dumps tons of money at a loss into the NWSL

Back paying them $50 million would all but cripple youth development in this country for a decade, and put pay to play in over drive.

I hope Jaelene Hinkle sues the USWNT for discrimination.

I don't think she has much of a case.

Let’s also not forget that the men bring in TV money because outside of the World Cup nobody watches the women’s team

That's the most frustrating part. I'll give the USWNT credit during the world cup, they bring in as many or more viewers than the USMNT, mainly because they perform well and are winning world cups. But who honestly believes they are getting anywhere near those ratings or similar ratings to the USMNT outside the world cup?

Wow, so if those figures are correct, USWNT had more total viewers in 2018 than USMNT, mainly because they played a lot more games. I'd like to see those figures over a longer time period as 2018 was a slow year for USMNT. As this article points out LINK, had the U.S. made the world cup, they would have had somewhere around 15 million viewers total, 3X that of the USWNT. Let's translate that to $. Let's say total broadcast revenue for the year was $100 million. That means USMNT would have brought in $75 million vs $25 million from the USWNT.

It'd be great to compare viewership between 2014-2017, so you capture both teams world cups, friendlies, tournmanets, and WCQ games.

Megan McCardle for Washington Post did a comprehensive breakdown too

What's funny is that I think they'd get so much farther saying "Hey we win the WC every 4 years and play in small leagues, we should get paid more for what we bring to the country, we're not getting big wages for our league teams."

Response "Sounds reasonable, ok"

Instead, it's "we're mistreated and aren't considered equal and here are some half-baked statistics MSM won't question to show why we're underpaid"

Response "man frick these dishonest whiners"

Of course the answer is that this has more to do with disparaging men's sports and making political arguments than it does getting the women higher pay.

Pville the coach and captain are lesbian. She is seen as the best female left back in the world by some.... Yep no discrimination here. In the meantime the team is used as a political toy to be dangled in front of the women's soccer biggest stage. She did not fit the narrative.

Broken down perfectly imo. They’d have a case if they made rational arguments and didn’t act like victims.

Jaelene Hinkle is by far the best LB. Makes crystal Dunn look like a high schooler.

She only had a total of 8 caps before she removed herself from the team over rainbows on the uniform. She was later called back in and just didn't make the cut. She doesn't have much of a case. If the coach thinks she will cause a rift in the team, she doesn't have to play her.

She was invited and then cut 3 days later. Reeks of legal maneuvering. It seems like Hinkle doesn’t really give a shite if she doesn’t play for them again.

Just take a stab at her Twatter page. She’s very religious. You damn well know she would struggle to mesh with the current squad. In all fairness to her, many would struggle to tolerate playing with this squad. It’s too over the top.
