Eagles HC Doug Pederson describes the RPO concepts

Obviously wouldn’t expect a college team to have it as perfect as a pro team, but a good video on the concepts that we are moving towards.
A key point that Pederson makes in the few minute of the video is that you don’t need a running QB to run the RPO. The QB run is usually the last resort (in the base RPO package). The QB’s decision making is the key to the whole operation.

He is correct. The read typically is either hand off or throw. Most often based off of corner alignment presnap and linebacker reaction post snap.

Way to confirm that the Super Bowl winning football coach knows what he’s talking about, man.

Sorry it bothered you?

I’d rather hear from the coach who could beat Evangel.

How do you defeat the RPO? With a drop linebacker. Lou Tepper was ahead of his time

It's cool how the HC knows the offense better than anyone on the team.

thanks for confirming that one of the brightest offensive minds in the world is correct about a principle of his offense.
maybe you'd like to affirm that edison knew a few things about the light bulb.

Why do you guys have to harp on such bullshite? All he did was add his thoughts to the conversation and you guys bash him for it.

What thoughts did he add? He repeated what Pederson said but made sure to let us know that he confirmed that he was right.
It was a weird way to say it and came off hilariously smug. But way to stick up for him! Im sure he feels better!

It's so bad on most all threads posted here. Worst part of this site is the bickering that will take up 5+ pages that is only between 2 people. But the info and opinions are worth scanning through most of it

A lot of tards on this board confuse the RPO with the read-option.

Sorry to have ruffled feathers. In fairness, this board has shite all over championship winning coaches before and many have argued that you need a running QB to effectively execute and RPO heavy offense. So I apologize for agreeing with Pederson.

So in the RPO quick decision making is a must, an accurate passing arm is second and running ability is a bonus.

BTW, what's Pederson doing making this video? He's giving away all of his team's secrets.

Well, that makes a lot more sense than just saying he's correct. You're right though, people confuse that and thinking that an RPO offense requires a dual threat QB. Sure, it helps to add that extra dimension, but it's not essential.

Yep. And running ability is a distant third from the first two. Bad reads on an RPO are usually picks. The same goes for a bad throw at least on inside RPO’s. It’s why sometimes you’ll see a QB split the numbers of the linebacker on those quick ones. It definitely requires the QB and receiver to be on the same page and it’s damn hard to stop if you do it right.
