ETA: In all seriousness, I'd likely have kept a closed-mind and called it a bad idea when in reality I don't know if it really is or not. I do know that we can't war our way to Making Afghanistan Great For the First Time. No one ever has.

I would have thought it was just a moronic fricking move as I did when Trump did it. The absolute ONLY purpose served by negotiating with shitballs like them is to prove to others what a bad idea such negotiations are.

Same here. Our adventures in that area need to come to an end; they're getting tiresome and serve no legitimate purpose. Bring troops home from that region then send them to the southern border where they can perform a legitimate national security function.
On a related note, if things are so terrible and violent in Venezuela and other South American countries, how come the UN doesn't send peace keepers like they do in Africa?
