How do you feel about this Trump bit on gun control?

President Trump
I’m going to essentially write that out. We can do that with an executive order. I’m essentially going to write it out. You won’t have to worry about bump stock. Shortly, that will be gone. We can focus on other things. Frankly, I don’t know that it would be good to have it be in this bill. We’ll have that done...
And, John, Fix NICS has some really good things in it. It would be nice if we could add everything on to it and maybe change the title, all right? The U.S. Background check bill or whatever. Your bill is really good and really important, having to do with a certain aspect. Maybe we could make it much more comprehensive and have one bill instead of 15 different bills and nobody knows what’s happening...
We have a case where can you buy a handgun at 21. This isn’t a popular thing to say in terms of the NRA but I’m going to say it anyway. I just have to say it. You can’t buy — think of it. You can buy a handgun. You can’t buy one. You have to wait until you’re 21. You can buy the kind of weapon used in the school shooting at 18...
I’m going to give it a lot of consideration. And I’m the one bringing it up. People aren’t bringing it up because they’re afraid to bring it up. You can’t buy a handgun at 18, 19 or 20. You have to wait until you’re 21.

Against it? Just because it’s trump doesn’t mean I’m lock step with the dude? That’s a dem thing.

Gun control doesn't work. The best thing to do is roll back the current gun control regulations and outlaw gun free zones on government property. That's how I feel about it.

Trump will lose my vote if he isn’t careful.

As long as he keeps appointing conservative, 2nd amendment supporting judges he can say whatever he needs to get reelected. Suburban white women will decide this election. Trump can’t let the Dems win them over on “he doesn’t care about our children!”

And who do you propose voting for instead?

You're projecting. It was just a question. Personally, I have no issue with 18+ for purchase/ownership of guns not traditionally used as hunting weapons

So you'd vote against him in the primary?

I’m also not a single issue voter. So, no.

Were you an all or nothing guy with Obama? Did you have any problem with him giving the Patriot Act more power even though your party railed on the act under Bush?
I'm not an all or nothing guy. I actually don't mind minor gun control. I will fight tooth an nail when your side pushes it beyond minor so I completely understand those who give no ground.
In short, I have zero problem with his statement and if I did, I would still vote for him without pause over any of your clown candidates who want unlimited immigration, free medical coverage for non citizens, and tax increases on the middle class.
Hell, Trump could ban guns and I would still take him over all of your candidates. And bump stocks aren't a big deal for most people with guns. I have zero problem banning a device used to get around the automatic laws.
As I said, I have zero problem with folks who refuse to give up ground because the clowns on your side do want all guns taken from law abiding seasons leaving us at the mercy of those who don't give a single frick about law and order.
In short, frick off you clown.

The fact that you can disagree with those in power in your party makes their heads explode.
Dems good. Dems life. Dems love.

BMY is a single issue voter because he can't cut it in the private sector

This is music to bmy's ears. This is exactly what he's hoping we will say.

I think it is great. If he is trying to lose re-election. If he wants another 4 years he better stop listening to liberals and New York "conservatives" (which are actually liberals relative to his base) and stay the frick away from gun control.
For example, my 79 year old dad could give two strokes about the bump stock ban. It pissed me off because it is just an increment to the left. Now the whole 21 year old rule has my dad, who has had yelling matches with me over the bump stock ban, saying he won't vote for Trump if he passes more gun control.
If Trump goes down the leftist path on gun control he will lose.
His better path is beef up mental health, beef up enforcement of current laws, find a way for communication between agencies to improve to make sure those who don't pass background checks don't get guns, hell even go after illegal weapons in the hands of criminals. All good things, all making progress on gun violence and none of those things will add more legislation to an already burdensome stack.
That to me is the path to decreasing gun violence while not infringing on my rights.

Do you hold your wife to the same standard of "if I don't agree with everything she does I'm going to divorce her"?
