Anyone following this on Twitter? It’s pretty funny.
Trent daddy Blog
Seems some older media members are upset the foreplay guys are so happy fist bumping Tiger and rooting for the Americans to win.

You just know all of the nobody old media types have been foaming at the mouth all year waiting for an opportunity to go after them
I can understand not liking the foreplay guys but the game of golf absolutely needs 25-30yr old media people covering the game. These old people are just pissed that these random young guys have come in and are getting exclusive interviews with players they have probably never been able to attract.
I think the foreplay guys have done a really nice job making players like Dechambeau, JT, Brooks, kisner very likable.

No doubt. Their podcasts are extremely well done and I love how much they love tiger.

Franky and Riggs are awesome. They are such golf nerds and I love it.

This is the classic barstool schtick. Jumping on any perceived controversy to incite their very vocal base. Great move by them IMO.
The biggest thing foreplay/barstool has going for them is that they're not your normal journalists. They don't care about remaining neutral and politically correct. They're fans just like us and aren't afraid to let you know it. It's something that journalism has desperately needed and they've done a great job with it.
ETA: this line from the blog sums it up

And by the way, we are Tiger fan boys. Never once have we denied that. I happen to view that term as the highest compliment. These old dudes are acting like we’re running around pretending to be journalists when in fact we’ve rejected that notion over and over again. We’re passionate fans who love the game of golf. And yes we also love the greatest human being who has ever graced God’s green earth, Tiger Woods, and don’t hide that fact. We are fans and that’s our approach to covering the game of golf because that’s what we know how to do. We tweet and blog and podcast like fans because none of us went to a fancy journalism school. We are fans.

It seems like the old guys need to get with the times. This gets kids interested in golf. I think it's great to have these guys around. I usually enjoy their takes on things and it's better than listening most other coverages

Just have fun folks. Play in shorts, t shirts, polos, backwards hats, vests, little music playing, play preferred lies everywhere, play by the rule book. Play however you want. Enjoy golf however you want. Cover golf however you want. Just have fun. What’s the issue?

Foreplay guys are enormous tools but they are absolutely right in this instance.

You sure do know a lot about foreplay and barstool in general for the hate. How can you say they’re a disgrace when they definitely get the attention of people that would never pick up a club. I really don’t get this sentiment.

Oh definitely agree. The golf nuts and diehards aren’t the target market nor should they be. They are after new younger audiences and for that I am grateful as I hate to see clubs closing or selling out to get membership at the expense of others.

Hank Haney's is also ok but too much bs with the sidekicks.
Haney’s podcast is mind numbingly boring, and I love golf.

Did you watch the video? The wind was 20-40mph and unless you know how to play in those conditions (99% of us don't) then don't throw stones.
Looks like we found who the old-man golf is on this board.

Just not a fan of their content. I guess I should’ve phrased my original post better and not called them tools. I am glad they bring in new younger fans for the sport but they just aren’t my cup of tea.

You left out the important part of his post - the guy claims to be a 5-7 HCP. Riggs is full of shite

I'm not saying he is or he isn't. I've seen videos of him hitting and I don't believe he's a 5-7 but he's probably around a 10 (+/-). Regardless, even if he is a 5 he could still shoot 100 on a course given the conditions he played in. If I played in those conditions (i'm a 13) I would probably shoot 8 strokes more than he did, without question.

Eh. I'm a 7 and if I'm playing a tournament-caliber course at 7000+ yards there's a good chance I'm not breaking 100.
Hell, I played an RTJ course last summer and through a combination of terrible breaks, poor tee shots, and leaving approach shots on the wrong shelf...I was in the mid-90's.
