So how desperate are the car dealers to sell cars?

As much as I don't want to be, I am inching closer to being in the market for another vehicle. Mine is almost 10 years old and I sense that the end is near. I've really enjoyed not having a car note the last 5 years and really don't want to take on one now, but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do.
Is this truly a good time to buy? From everything I'm hearing, the dealers are having trouble moving inventory and they are offering all kinds of perks due to the Corona-AIDS thingie that's going on.
So riddle me these things, those of you who are in the know:
1) With all of the incentives being offered like no payments for 90 days, low financing, etc., where are they going to stick it to me? It all seems too good to be true without a "catch".
B) I can really do new or used at this point. Can I expect the same perks and incentives if I want a used car? Or do I have to go new
3) Its the end of the month, so have I lucked into a good time frame to be in need?
For reference, I've driven Hondas for almost 20 years, so I should have some owner-loyalty perks out the arse. And I've financed them all through Honda with no issues.
TIA, FWIW, PIIHB.

I can barely get car dealers to call me back. None of them have been willing to deal.

No, but they want you to think that.

Pretty sure the old baw at the dealership would give you BJ to get a sale as long as you agree not to tell any of his neighbors.

Can you afford it, then yes. If not, no.

If you could point me in the direction of helpful resources on this, it would be much appreciated
I haven't shopped for a car in 10 years. I know the game is the same, but I'm sure there are tons of internet resources available that I'm not familiar with.

This right here. Had a Ram salesman finally call me back today. Was really pushing all the no interest/no payments hard. Told him I was interested in bottom line. He calls back with a whopping $6k off sticker. I said thanks but not even remotely close.

I can make it work, yes. I just would like a bargain...
I'm going to have to buy eventually. I'm weighing buying now vs. trying to get another 6 months to a year out of my current car, but maybe not having the same incentives available if things are back to normal by then.

Nothing has changed in 10 years. Internet or not. Get a few thousand off and go home.

Man, I heard that right now you can just walk in and name your desired monthly payment and they'll jump for joy.

And the interior and exterior are shot to shite.
Never had a single mechanical issue, but the shitty paint has oxidized and the interior has lots of wear and tear. I expect to get fricked on a trade-in.

If you wait 6 months to buy, you are 6 months further from paying it off...
I say that tongue and cheek but it’s impossible for us to tell you. What would you do with the money you save the next 6 months? Invest, larger down payment, vacation? We don’t know you. Are you in danger of being laid off? About to have a baby?
If you want a new car and car afford it, buy it. If the purchase will keep you up at night, don’t. If you would have asked anyone’s opinion on finances 6 months ago, they would be wrong today.

Can tell the manufacturers are not shipping much. Local dealer is pretty low on truck inventory compared to the norm.

Get pre-approved. Choose vehicle. Subtract 20% from the sticker. Make an offer. Negotiate your best deal without a trade. Sign the purchase agreement. Decline their financing and protection plans. Pay cash from your pre-approval. You ride.

My 2 cents, roll with it until it dies or major issue comes up. But that’s me, I am a simple and cheap guy.
