Looks similar to the kind of damage done in the Khobar Towers blast.

Big building to the right looks like it has scaffolding. Either they're getting to repairs real quick, or it looks worse than the others because it was under construction.

Two-story building in the lower right corner is LEGIT, it gave zero fricks. Whole city should be rebuilt by whoever built that thing
Otherwise, crazy arse picture

Does anyone remember the LNG controversy back in the 80s? The warning was that ships transporting the gas globally could explode in harbor in NYC and everyone would die. They had pics of the possible disaster and it looked like that one.

It's under construction, you can see all the way through and that they haven't completed the interior floorplan at all. It's still BTFO though, probably set back the completion by at least a year.

I thought the same thing. Either AA guns or construction lifts

I’d say AA guns. It IS freaking Beirut.

That one building in the videos yesterday was vaporized.

The question is, who is behind it

Ammonium Nitrate is some powerful shite.
The thing is, ammonium nitrate does not self ignite just from a heat source. You need to mix in a fuel source. To make it explosive you need to mix a fuel source, aka oxidizer like diesel, gasoline, metal powers like aluminum or iron, etc. to get the explosion going.
I believe what happened in this case is the pre-fire and initial explosions release other oxidizers in the warehouse that mixed with the ammonium nitrate fertilizer and once that mixture occurred and ignition started from the adjacent fire the chemical reaction ensued and resulted in a massive explosion. Ammonium nitrate is able to accomplish this because it contains its own oxygen source. It does not need oxygen from the atmosphere.

Looks like a typical ME shithole. Is that before or after the blast?

It is very sad but remember that we have some of the strictest building codes in the U.S.A. I guarantee you Beirut don't do many building inspections. In Beirut, If you got money, build it. In the U.S.A. if you got money, build it..... but get your permits and more money and all of your licensed contractors in order because you will be inspected before, during and after the build.
