Smallest league bench you’ve had?

I’m tired of not having players to pick up and having a bench full of worthless players. Only a 10 team league 1 Qb and a flex, standard lineup. But still, why is standard league to have an 8 player bench when most players have 3-5 people that never see the starting lineup?
Considering pushing hard for a 4-5 person bench. Do we really need more than that?

We have a 4 man bench and no designated IR spot.

The only re-draft league I play in is our guillotine - so the extra bench spots come in handy trying to have a few potential keeper options for the next season.
