While I'm stuck here in South Carolina I often listen to local sports talk radio. Every day someone calls in complaining about the cost of tickets to see the Gamecocks play. The show host is always saying that the school has to raise the price of tickets in order to build new facilities so they can compete for talent.

How do Tiger fans feel about how much ticket prices have gone up? Is being successful worth the price of admission?

as long as there is a good product, no problem.

look at concert tickets, they are insane. but if you like the show, you never have a problem with it.

Unfortunately it's the SEC power struggle.
We are still way under Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.

I suggest LSU fans go look at UTexas or A&M's prices, LSU is a downright steal and one of the best values in college football.

The ticket prices aren't really the problem. Them not being available is. If you go on the stub hub sites you will get bent over. Then you take the alternative and hope the scalpers have decent seats between Tiger Stadium and the Maravich Center.

Most South Carolina fans don't -- in principle -- have a problem with ticket prices going up. We realize when we came into the SEC in 1992, our facilities were way behind the rest of the conference.

The reason it is news right now is that the University just announced it will start charging annual seat licenses for the 48,000 best seats in the stadium. This is on top of the ticket price and on top of the Gamecock Club donation.

For example, this year, I am paying $1,350 for full scholarship donation level plus $1,280 for four tickets. I also pay $225 for fairground parking, so the home season costs me $2,855.00.

Next year, my donation level goes up to $1,500. Even if seats and parking stay the same, I will also have to add $580 for the PSL's on my seats, bringing my total up to $3,585.00.

What sucks about all this is that my seats are in Row 23 (of 42) in the upper deck on the 30 yard line. I've been a season ticket holder for 8 years and this is the best I can get. I wouldn't mind paying the extra $730 if it meant I met get decent seats -- but I have to pay this just to keep the crappy seats I have.

This is why it is such a big topic on local sports radio. I don't know how it compares with LSU, but my understanding is we are still cheaper than Florida and Georgia (unless you count the price per win!).
