yeah, for a long time i could find chocolate soldiers at the convenient store on the corner of highland and old jefferson. Have no idea where to get them now. They are like a less watery, more real tasting yoo-hoo.

Mine is not a happy memory. My mom couldn't cook. Dad was great but he only had time on weekends. Mom's normal meal for me and Bro was a liver cheese sandwich with mayo and mustard. Liver cheese is not actually cheese. It's crap with a white line of fat surrounding it.

That is exactly what I thought of when I read this thread. It brings me back to Saturdays in the fall when I when sleep in until 9 or 10 as a kid. When I would wake up the house would smell like peanuts and it always put a smile on my face. Nothing like a whole day of watching college football and eating jumbo boiled peanuts.
I still get them on visits home.
Fried pork chops/mashed potatos/fresh green beans with bacon floating them is another favorite "memory" food of mine. My grandmother and mom could make those meals into gourmet expierences.
