Basically what the subject says...driving distance of BR and no motorized boat. I have an older kayak or could purchase a new one...or can fish from the shore. Have done several mountain trips with friends and guides for trout with a 5wt rod. Could purchase a larger wt rod if they opens up some more opportunities.

My brother has launched a kayak out of Bason’s marina in cutoff. He’d fly fish for reds in the ponds not far from the launch.

Little Missouri River in Murfreesboro, AR. About a 6hr drive from BR. Great spot right down from base of Narrows Dam. No kayak needed. Just a pair of waders. Easy parking access right by rivers edge. And usually lots of trout.

I know this is the outdoor board and not the OT but I have been drinking a little and my first thought was driving distance from BR could be anywhere from the Florida Keys to Alaska. Sorry

LSU golf course ponds
Okhissa Lake in Mississippi
City Park in Nola ...

Louisiana is the sportsman’s paradise for a reason, tons of places to go throw a fly.

If you are wanting to practice and just want to fly fish within 20 minutes, any pond with no trees will get you bream and small bass.

Top water going to be hard in the winter, though.

Thanks for the replies...agree I wasn't too clear...was looking for places that I could go to and be back in the same day for a day trip from Baton Rouge.
