The Blue Whale south of Catoosa (OK). I've driven by many times but never stopped. American Pickers made a stop there, though.

I'd flip Bogart's and Pappy's personally.

Me and my little Brother did this trip about a decade ago when he graduated college, had a great time. I'd pay attention to timing once you get into western Oklahoma thru Albuquerque whole lot of nothing out there and you can end up driving for quite a bit looking for a place to stay, that's decent.

The Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari is a restored motel from 1939 that is still an operating motel. Even if you don't stay there, which you should as it is one of the few remaining operating route 66 motels, stop by. The owners are very friendly and happy to show off their motel.

youtube video

I watched this video last year and it got me itching to drive the route sometime. It is long but very detailed and entertaining. They go LA>Chicago. There are some awesome food stops along the way.

Safe travels!
