Rust spots on iron shafts

Have an old set of Ping G10’s I have replaced and will likely sell. The steel (factory) shafts have numerous small rust spots. Not sure why as I have cleaned and even waxed them over the years and are always in the garage so not exposed outdoors.
Anyone have a good way to remove these without damaging the finish ?

Try Rust-Oleum. Did you have fertilizer stored in the garage?

Maybe a small open bag - not much. Insulated garage tho so not as much heat/humidity and was opened some every day for fresh air, etc. could be that but don’t notice it on tools, etc.
what Rustoleum product - not wanting to paint chrome shafts. Was wondering if WD40 and fine brass wool would work. Certainly open to anything chemical if it won’t damage shafts

Rust-Oleum makes a rust remover, my bad. It should be safe to use and not mar the finish on the shafts.

Back in the day I stored my old Callaway X-12s in the garage. Small rust on shafts, and a patina of rust on the iron head itself. I figure just too much humidity in Louisiana.

Humidity does it every time.
I always used steel wool to clean them up if it was too much to just wipe off with a towel.

Wet a towel with Vinegar and rub it. Then clean with steel wool, if necessary.

I find if you get a piece of aluminum foil, put some water on it (the foil) and use that to wipe down your shafts the rust will come off. Try it out

Never dull will remove the rust if its not pitted and will also polish the shafts and heads.

Try barkeepers friend. It does wonders on stainless steel.
