Long time Top Gear fans will remember Sabine Schmitz, "Queen of the Nurburgring", from her many guest appearances over the course of the series. Schmitz was a big hit with the fans of the show (good enough to get a German spin off of the show if I recall correctly)and the presenters.
Sabine has quite a few racing accomplishments to her credit, including being the first woman to win the Nurburgring 24 hour race... a feat she repeated the next year. She was 51 at the time of her passing.

Loved her enthusiasm. The van challenge was epic.

Don't know who she is; I've never watched that show. Just popping in to say frick Cancer. I hate this disease, and seeing anyone die so young from it is terrible.

And by all accounts full of life. In addition to being a media personality and racing Schmitz used to be one of the Nurburgring Taxi drivers... which is business where you hire professionals racers to drive you around the Nurburgring ring as fast as possible.

One of my favorite drivers and personalities. Had the pleasure of multiple laps in a Ring taxi with her at the helm, both in M5s and her 911. She was just as enthusiastic in person as she was on camera.
