Pretty excited to say the least. For those who have done a fitting recently, is there anything you wished you would have asked? Or is there any clubs you wished you spend more time on to dial in better?

I was an idiot When I got fitted, I was swinging way too hard. I wish I would of dialed it back some for a nice smooth tempo.

I would encourage you not to do it all over one day. Be prepared to be exhausted at the end

I have only done a driver recently, but one thing I'd try more next time is to calm myself more. I was pretty excited and I think my adrenaline/nerves of being analyzed caused me to swing unnaturally aggressive. You want to give them the best data possible.

Other than that, try to bring as much knowledge as possible to the fitting. Meaning have a good idea on optimal gapping, swing speed, trajectory for your clubs. I'll pay a lot less attention to distances next time, as that will fluctuate even during the fitting as fatigue sets in. Those other variables will provide better data.

Thanks for the heads up. One thing I will bring in is lofts for all clubs I want to hit. That way I can know true distances. I am not looking to gain distance. I hit the ball plenty far gaming my traditional Mizuno lofted irons that are 11 years old. I would like to get my shots flighted a little lower.

I will be interested to see if similarly lofted newer model clubs are flying any further than my old set.

They should especially depending on where the CG is on the iron. That's one thing people overlook when they are looking at lofts. If you move the CG way up you are going to make the ball go higher which is why some irons have really strong lofts.

Thats why you need to focus on numbers other than distance. Spin, height, launch angle, etc are all more important than distance. I hit the ball high with a lot of spin so getting that lower flight with less spin was what I was looking for. That led my 7 iron to pick up about 10 yards last time I got fitted, but it put me in a more optimal launch condition window.

Aren't you in Nashville?

Who are you going to see? Jason? He was pretty awesome for me. I've heard the other guy is a dick so hopefully that isn't the case for you.

You'll really only have time to hit your 6 iron and driver though FYI. As others have said, getting through the whole bag is going to be aggressive.

I paid them for a driver fitting once. The guy was thorough, but I don’t think my swing was consistent enough at the time to get an accurate fitting. I was about a 20 handicap when I went and felt like it was one of those days my swing was off.

I go soon. Report back. I am interested to hear how it went.

Also any suggestions on what to do in prep would be helpful. Like should I head to a range and get yardages down, note workability/shape shots of current irons, be able to hit constant balls for a 3.5hr fitting , etc.

Ask your fitter for a happy ending.

I did driver and irons.

He asks you what you think you're looking for or how you want to change your trajectory/game. He makes you hit your 6 until you get some consistent data. No use in going to the range, you can get dialed in there.

You then proceed to hit every club head in the range of what you're looking for (blades, game improvement etc) and also price.

He will try to dial in the right shaft first and then start to widdle down which head gets best result.

My guy had two shafts that worked well for me, one being super expensive, and one pretty reasonable, he let me hit both at the end on the Srixon ZX5 head (the one I liked the best) and then decide.

He did basically all of the above with Driver as well. Irons took 3 hours and Driver was about 2 FYI.

I was tired AF after each session and I didn't even get that Covid fat.

Yes I’m in Nashville. I think my fitters name is Brett. Hopefully he’s not an a-hole. I deal with assholes on a daily basis, and I’m pretty good about putting them in their place kindly. Most people change their tune when you point out their being a dick lol.

I’ll be sure to report back on how it went.

I strongly urge you not to do a whole bag fitting in one appointment.

There’s no way you won’t start getting fatigued and once that happens your swing will be affected.

Unless, of course, you practice golf around 4-8 hrs per day on the range. I would always do a driver fitting as a fitting by itself IMO.

But either way, it’s exciting to get fit and the process is neat.

Ideally, you probably should break out a full bag fitting into two sessions. Doing it all in a single day is a ton of swings, and you'll get tired and lose your numbers.

Obviously, driver is where you'll get the most bang for your buck on a fitting. After that it's fairway woods/hybrids then wedges.

Nice!

Did you end up getting new equipment? If yes, about how long did it take to get to you?

This, and the guys I went to said the same. Partly because they waive the fitting fee if you go with them for the build, so from a price perspective, there is no loss. But also due to the number of swings they'll have you do. I hit probably close to 175 balls (recorded), all drivers, over 90 minutes. I was wore out and sore for 2 days after.

Going to club champion in Plano tomorrow for a driver fitting. I will report back. Currently playing the Nike Vapor Fly Pro with stock shaft. It's time for an upgrade.

I got Srixon ZX5s with KBS lite shafts.

Also got a Callaway Epic with a Mitsubishi Diamana shaft.

Both came in 3 weeks. Not bad at all. Was expensive as hell but honestly, the feel on these is well worth it, even as a 15 handicap. Huge difference for me honestly.

For what its worth, my teacher said the fitter did a great job and the shafts are exactly what he would have selected for my shitty swing.

My coach is a pretty cool, level dude as well so I think it is saying a lot (good things) about my experience.

Uddate:

Long Story but I will try and summarize:

My fitting didn't go as planned, which was no fault of Club Champion. I had a really off day swinging the club. I was pushing everything to the right (even with my own irons). My usual miss is left, so the shots going to the right were frustrating. Club Champion offered to break up the fitting into multiple days, which honestly after going today, is what I would recommend to anyone anyway.

I hit a few different iron shaft options with the Mizuno MMC. Some I struck well and some were just God awful. It was like I couldn't get my hands around. Very weird day.

The club fitter could tell I was off, so he kindly stated to just break it up, and that I wouldnt be charged more for doing so. I could come back on a day when I am feeling more comfortable. It would be in neither his nor my benefit to get fitted for clubs on a day my swing didnt feel comfortable. We could do irons/wedges one day, and Driver/Fairway woods another.

I did get fitted for my putter however. I had been gaming a Scotty Newport 2. After testing that one, the machine recommended more of a mallet style putter based on my putter swing. I then tested with my old White Hot #7 and made all 7 putts we tested. The machine agreed that this putter was the one I needed to be playing.

While practicing on my putting mat this winter, I mostly used the Scotty. However, when I grabbed the White Hot #7, it was like I couldn't miss. So I can't say the fitting results surprised me, but it just reaffirmed what I needed to hear. I was gaming the Scotty off just wanted to game a Scotty, not that it improved my putting.

Long story short, my experience at Club Champion was great even if I had a bad day. I am set to be back April 3rd, so hopefully the next time works out much better.
