Masks/testing for flying — here to stay forever?

No travel plans upcoming g involving flights but was looking at delta and united out of curiosity.
Testing was offered mail in I think for United - $119 per test. Family of 5 flying and that all adds up.
So thoughts — is it here to stay? Really just curious. And so glad my trip to Africa was two summers ago.

Define forever? 12-18 months, more than likely. I don’t see it being an issue in 2023/2024 and going forward. But, who knows

Absolutely not here to stay forever. Wouldn’t shock me if they’re gone “at least for customers” by the end of this year. I’m an airline crew member and this is what I believe.
I firmly believe they’ll require to FAs to continue to wear them for safety theatre for a while, though.

When you went to africa did you have to take any medical precautions?

Some airlines will probably try to keep them while a few will get rid of the requirements. Then the market will decide what happens next

Maybe get a prescription for malaria medication but that's about it.
Certain countries like South Africa require yellow fever vaccine if you spend time in other countries on their list, so you have to maybe watch that. Besides that, no big deal.

Within the US? They're going away as rates decrease and vaccinations increase.
Internationally? That will depend on the destination and carrier. Not all places around the world are in the same position right now regarding vaccine access.

I got a Yellow Fever vaccine around Jan/Feb of 2020 for a Kenya trip in late March that (of course) COVID ruined. Son a bitch cost about $300. Hoping to make that trip up later this year.

I've been vaccinated twice for typhoid. Second time trip got canceled so I know the pain.
I'm just glad I finally stopped being so transient my shot records are in one place now. Probably got a few shots multiple times.

I wasn't required to take anything but did take Hep A and updated my tetanus (but that was due anyway).
I did get a script for malaria meds and filled it but ended up not taking it.

For a domestic flight? Booked United to DC yesterday without any proof of vaccination
