Mark Broadie: "Drive for show, putt for dough" is probably the most incorrect expression in golf.

I've been told by the golf board on several occasions that this is incorrect

Working on your driver is in all actuality more beneficial to your game than anything else

I really feel like you can make a good argument for any part. If you can’t drive the ball hard to score. Can’t putt hard to score. Can’t get up and down or out of a bunker can’t score. Can’t hit a green with an 8 iron hard to score.

In my mind I say no 3 three putts and no OB. If I do that I’m going to have a decent round even if I’m not hitting great

Nothing F’s up my round like my driver. When I can’t hit a fairway, it’s a horrible day of golf

My driver is the easiest club for me to hit. I'm pretty good with short irons wedges, I just undwrestimate distances.

Long and even mid irons are my Achilles heel.

How many bunkers are you in that you think that's the most important shot in golf?

You in particular could be an outlier, but just about it like this, as you get farther away from the hole your proximity is going to get worse compared to a pro. A 10 handicap doesn't make that many less 20 foot putts than a pro and 3 putts it not that much more often. Now move 200 yards away from the hole. A pro is going to get that down in just over 3 shots typically. A 10 handicap is going to struggle to get 4. So a full shot difference from 200, where as a half shot or less from 20 feet.

The most important shot to lower your score is from the sand

I played 9 holes this afternoon. I was in bunker on 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9.

Yesterday I was only in 3.

We have 45 bunkers. It’s silly to have that many bunkers. The worst is the cross bunkers that cover the front of some greens.

It’s worth practicing bunker shots, but our sand has been very thin lately so it’s tougher than it used to be.

If you were better with your mid irons, you wouldn't be in the bunker, which is kind of the point.

You should definitely practice them, but you should practice getting your ball off the tee and onto the green way, way more

If you can’t hit a fairway off the tee or a green from 150... and are still worried about “lowering your score.”.,,, I would bet you can’t get out of a bunker in 1 shot to save your life.

Also, play faster douche. You aren’t on tour. And your white belt is gay

I agree that I should not hit the ball in the bunkers.

I should also hit the fairway and green on every hole.

I just fail to execute at times.

I believe the best way to improve is to work on putting until you are making most putts inside 4 feet.

Then work on chipping and pitching.

Then driving.

Then irons.

It is hard to be good at everything, but the short game shou,d be 75% of my practice.

Millions of data points and every high level coach disagrees, but you can do whatever you want.
