Kobe Bryant’s words holding true

Other countries have easily closed the gap and will surpass us in basketball as long as glorified iso ball continues. This USA team has 0 chemistry and cohesiveness. Pop is an overrated coach. These guys are just jacking up 3s, no ball movement, don’t know how to rotate on defense. Getting beat by good clean passes and simple backcuts.

This team needs a guy like Kobe or Jordan. I don't mean their skill level. I just mean competitive attitude.
Zero chance and Olympic team with Kobe on it would let them half arse it and lose to other countries.

Honestly, thank God Draymond is on this team. He’ll have them get their shite together before Tokyo.
The one hard thing is you want one of your best players to be that guy, and Draymond is not one of the best players on the team.

US basketball is a dumpster fire right now. It’s an awful product and this is what you get in international play when that shite takes over the NBA.

It's obvious that isn't the best roster Team USA could have put on the court. This team right now is not very good and the giving the last two roster spots to Jeremi Grant and Kevin Love was a waste.
If there is a defense to be made for team USA, it is that they've only had a handful of practices and still have D Book, Jrue, and Middleton on the way. Having to give Grant big minutes as your wing defensive stopper isn't good. Those minutes will be replaced by Kris and Jrue.
The biggest problem is this team doesn't have a true point guard to lead an offense. Dame isn't that guy and would be better served as a 2 guard in the international game - kind of how Kyrie was used last Olympics. A Dame/Beal backcourt reminds me so much of that A.I./Marbury olympic team. There's way too much one-on-one play while Australia backdoor cut us to death.

If you want competitive attitude on the international level then you want another Sir Charles. Barkley played harder (and better) than any other player in Barcelona some might say too hard.

Having two bad defensive guards with no one to protect the rim isn’t great either.
