End of the Month Cancellations on American Airlines

Got a phone call from mom at 7am saying her flight to FLL this afternoon was cancelled. AA had rebooked her on a nonstop to Miami 5 hours later, ended up cancelling, getting a refund, and booking a nonstop on Frontier for the exact same cost.
Now I just got another text from a friend that his friends Houston- Charlotte cancelled for tomorrow. Just looked up and see American cancelled 538 flights and delayed 389 more Flightaware cancelled link. Guessing this is an end of the month hours issues for pilots or flight attendants. If anyone needs help rebooking I'll be on later today for assistance

I’m going to Nicaragua in March and American was really the only option. Definitely buying trip insurance.

Is it for the last weekend of March? That'd be the biggest concern right now, I think this is caused by the pilots already using up all of their available hours for the month.
I'd be cautious about end of November and end of December at this point on AA

Yes, fly down the last weekend in March and fly back after a few days.
I have my travel agent working on it. Anything special I should tell her? Thanks.

Try to fly on the 29th instead of the 30th or 31st if possible. Essentially it gets worse as the month goes on especially if there's bad delays early in a month. You'll be fine coming back beginning of the next month.
If she's a good travel agent, just point out what's going on this weekend and raise your concerns about this happening for your trip on AA.

American cancelled my flight yesterday along with 150 other flights. DFW was a shite show.

So yesterday was an interesting case. First time in a long time I've seen runways 31L and 31R being the only two runways in operation for both arrivals AND departures. This happens with strong Northwest winds where your normal 35/36 runways (the four main arriving and departing runways) are not in operation. They had all the traffic of a normal day with only half the runways needed. Today and tomorrow are from crew related cancellations which could be a result of yesterday with pilots timing out. It hasn't been a good week for AA

I have a flight on AA a week from now, hope mine doesn't get cancelled. I got caught in the middle of the huge Southwest strike a few weeks ago.

Thank goodness we flew Tuesday. No bad weather and no delays CUN-MIA-MSY (and we get delayed out of MIA to MSY more often than not). I did overhear the first class attendant on the CUN flight complaining she wasn't supposed to be working

You should be good. The way I understand things is the pilot hours reset the first of every month, but I could be wrong. That sucks about getting caught up in the strike, I'd be pretty pissed if it happened to me. Got two flights on Southwest next week so fingers crossed.

You saw the future without knowing it at the time

Super fantastic news.
Flying AA MSO-DFW later today. Only one flight per day.
Yesterday AA started offering minimum $450 to fly out tomorrow. Offers have gone up to $900.
Today should be a butt clincher. Can’t wait.

You may be able to get a ton of $$$ today, would be a great day for oversold situations. Do you have any flexibility today or no?
American is up to 718 cancelled flights and 135 flight delays. That's 26% of their daily flight total, yikes
Panny, they're actually still selling seats on MSO-DFW today so it might not be oversold. I still see 12 seats on the seatmap but guessing those will be assigned at the airport.

No flexibility, so if that flight actually takes off, our asses will be on it.

You're looking good because you're on Envoy and not mainline AA today

Related to AA but not about cancellations. Is 1:05 likely enough time to make an international connection in O’Hare? Land at 4:40 and take off at 5:45 on an Iberia flight. Not checking bags so not worried about that.

Eh, it's been a long time since I've done ORD so hopefully someone on here is more knowledgeable but I'd hesitate on saying it's enough time. It does look like the Iberia flight leaves from Terminal 3 and not the international terminal (Terminal 5) so that should help with not having to change terminals and reclear security. What month of the year? Winter- no way I'd book that with the constant gate waiting for deicing procedures

Weather looks good Friday in Chicago so if there's a delay it shouldn't be from storms. Keep your flights and if you run into issues day of is there an option through DFW or PHL?

Trying to figure that out. Have tried to track it but the flight number comes up with a route between DFW and Mexico, doesn’t show it running between MSY and ORD. Says it’s flight AA 3868. There’s 3 flights on AA from DFW to MSY Friday morning, but all 3 are different plane types.
