Staying at the grand for thanksgiving. Looking for recommendations for local bars, restaurants, shops, etc. TIA.

Southern Roots is good, Bayside is average at best.

Gambinos, R Bistro and Sunset Pointe are all good choices. Tamaras was good the first two times I had it but the last (third) was terrible.

Grab a seat by a fire pit at Buckys and enjoy a game or two. The main building is the best during the winter. I prefer to be closer to the pool during the Summer.

If you play golf, definitely get a round in. The two courses at The Grand are great.

The Grand also runs transportation (small fee) to and from town. You just need to call concierge to book one.

Cafe Acadiana in Silver Hill is really good. It is about a 25 minute drive from the hotel.

I've heard really good things about Big Daddy's Grill, which sits on the river about 15 minutes away.

Panini Pete's, which is right in downtown Fairhope, was featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Head to Jessie’s in Magnolia Springs for dinner.

Firefly for lunch.

Outside of Sunset Marina which has been mentioned those are my favorites.

SouthWood Kitchen Daphne has this appetizer of alternating Cubed Pork Belly and Cubed Watermelon on skewers that is likely the most memorable dish I’ve had close.

Fairhope Brewing. Also great restaurant across the street but I forgot the name due to too much beer at Fairhope.

My favorite restaurants:

Jesse’s in magnolia springs (15 min drive)
Camerial Cafe
Wash House
Sage (lunch)
Dragonfly (lunch)
The Mill (lunch—several places to eat including ox kitchen)
Sunset Pointe at fly creek marina if you want something on the water. I like their brunch

Take the bikes from the grand and ride down the boardwalk to the candy shop and back. Check out Fairhope brewery
If you play golf there is a course across from the grand with 36 holes

Thanksgiving night at the grand you’ll watch the transformation to Christmas decorations which is really impressive

Also if you don't mind a drive, the Catalina in Theodore has stunningly good crab claws and red shrimp. It's probably an hour and the atmosphere is that of an abandoned Shell station from the Nixon era. But the food is great.

Finally the Blue Gill is a bit hokey but when its warm out, I love a few cold beers and a pile of fried or grilled oysters on the patio. The patio backs right up to the water and there is a resident adolescent gator.

Make dinner reservations for Hope Farm now. Great food and atmosphere.

Southwood Kitchen is another great dinner spot. As is the Washhouse next to Grand.

Take a walk down the boardwalk (next to fishing pier) along Mobile Bay

I second posting up at Buckeys and watching football.
