New to the board. Would appreciate any tips/advice.

Bachelor party going to be sometime in may or June. Looking to rent a lake house somewhere in south (up to 8-10 hours of drive.) currently looking at lake Travis in Austin and lake Martin in Bama. The prices are much better for lake Martin and closer, but everyone has such high praise for lake Travis. I’m not a huge bar guy, so the Austin nightlife isn’t a huge factor. Any thoughts on this? Are there any other bachelor party friendly lakes that come to mind?

Travis is a very, very busy lake. Do you have a boat or would you be renting one?

Throw Lake Ouachita in the mix. 40,000 acres and 200 plus islands in the lake. Rent a giant houseboat and have at it for a few days. We rented a couple big houseboats for a buddies bachelor party and it was amazing. From helicopter survival rafts (with the explosive charges to inflate them) to passed out people drifting away on air mattresses, it was great.

Did lake Austin for a bachelor trip. I was awesome, we had a boat and one guy got paid to stay sober and drive. We went to the party cove most of the day and made friends wit everyone rafted up. Its out of the way of the city so we only did one big night on the town.

Take a look at Cedar Creek Resovoir. There have to be some VRBOs/AirBnBs. A buddy of mine has a lake house out there. I’m not a fan of Texas lakes, but I love this one. There’s golf courses nearby and decent restaurants in Mabank and Gun Barrel City.

Lake Martin isn't really a bachelor party friendly lake, FYI. If you're talking normal bachelor party debauchery. It's a nice lake, but more family oriented.

Decent sized boats? I have a wakeboard boat and have no issues upriver but down past Arkansas/Hudson Bend you can get into some rough water.
