Sure Souls to Polls
a little church
a little chicken

a little ride
a little vote

None. GOTV is all about knocking on doors and making phone calls to people who the campaign has identified as likely voters for your candidate. The whole idea is to have that person-to-person contact with someone representing the campaign to give them that extra psychological incentive to actually get out and vote.

this does happen but it's a very idealistic view

you're forgetting the "church busses" and "free meals"

Democrats love shaming and pressuring people into voting Democrat.
Be honest. This goes for conservatives, too.

Fair enough. I've done my share of fricking with people on this forum. I switch between sincere posting and shitposting

GOP voters are much more independent than DEMs

just look at how much the election system bends over backwards to help DEMs, and any return to past systems is seen as an attack on DEM voters

Also, the whole push to get youth to vote is transparently an attempt to use peer pressure to get people to vote a certain way though they are not well informed.

It's the same reason they do rock concerts instead of political rallies.

I think both are legal as long as you don't ask the voter to vote for a particular candidate or party
quote:

Transportation
The corporation or labor organization may provide
transportation to the place of registration or to the
polls but cannot condition that service on support
of a particular candidate or party. 114.3(c)(4).

Source: LINK page 88

(Obviously the quote is only about transportation, but I don't see why you couldn't also give someone food as long as you don't condition that upon who they vote for)

No, the purpose is to increase the turnout of a group that heavily votes Democratic

They do rock concerts because those appeal to young voters, but they are also political rallies. There's music and speeches in the same event.

It's all about appealing to the people who are most likely to vote for you. Democrats would be idiots not to use pop culture and youth appeal to their advantage.

i'm saying the ground game isn't only this idealistic view that you portrayed

it's a very dirty, gross thing quite often

I agree that it's a smart tactic.

The conservative mindset shies away from stuff like that, essentially saying "I don't want to win by courting uninformed people and peer pressuring them or otherwise luring them to vote for me".

Trump has no such qualms, and it's why he has a shot to win.

There's nothing dirty or gross about following the law.

I disagree. Both sides will work as hard as they can to turn out voters who are likely to vote for them, whether they are well-informed or not. You cannot possibly survive as a party unless you do this. It's too competitive.
